Advanced Cruise Missile guidance system description

Abstract: This paper will provide a functional description of the navigation and guidance system in the Advanced Cruise Missile (ACM), one of the Air Force's newest stealth missiles. It will also discuss some of the areas of improvement over the Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM). The Kalman Filter design accommodates velocity updates, including lateral velocities, and a nominal number of position updates from Terrain Correlation Matching (TERCOM) to achieve a high accuracy, long range mission.

“…This is due to the fact of Jamming-toSignal Ratio 10 is a very good parameter showing the performance of a receiver in electronic warfare environment. As the power of received C/A or P signals are not under control 11 , the only variable and controllable parameter is the strength of jamming signal.…”

“…11 The next generation of NAVSTAR satellites will use phase arrayed antennas to control the coverage area and also the received power level in desired areas up to %20 of its nominal values [7]. The S, as the slope of h(x), is a pure function of x and is independent of height of jammer.…”

“…A typical example of such practices 1 is found in the navigation systems of cruise and guided missiles as is thoroughly detailed in [3], [4], [5]. In such applications, several distinct phases of the system trajectory are considered to reconstruct, sequentially through distinct algorithms, subsets of the whole state vector of the system.…”
