Background: Psychological well-being among college students around the world is a current research topic. Despite various number of studies focusing on students who are trained for being a health care specialist, there are no reports on psychological disordes of student physical therapists. The objective of this study is to determine the prevalence of depression and anxiety among student physical therapists and to analyse any possible effects of different parameters on depression and anxiety. Methodology/Principal findings: 158 garad 2and grade3 students were enrolled in the study. Beck's depression inventory (BDI), Beck's anxiety inentory (BAI), Nottingham Health Profile (NHP), International Physical activity Questionnnaire (IPAQ) were used as evaluation measures. The mean age of the participants were 21.8±1.5 years. 18.9% of the students (n=30) had mild, moderate or severe depression. 40.5% of the students (n=64) had mild, moderate or severe anxiety. Only 10.8% of the participants (n=17) were inactive according to IPAQ scores. Female gender was correlated with higher BAI scores. Academic grade was not correlated with evaluation scores. Conclusions: The prevalence of anxiety and depression in student physical therapists was high, similar to the other health care professionals. These psychological disorders could influence the academic attainment. Therefore preventive measures and coping strategies may be implemented as an integral part college education. Keywords

In health disparities research, studying the vulnerabilities of African Americans should be balanced by research on resources and strengths that influence health. One resource is spirituality, yet few tools have been developed and tested in diverse populations. This study evaluated the psychometric characteristics of the Spiritual Perspective Scale (SPS) in 102 pregnant African American women. Internal consistency reliability was high and evidence of construct validity was provided. The SPS correlated as hypothesized with church attendance, religiosity, and self-reported spirituality. In addition, the SPS correlated negatively with depression, anxiety, and stress. Factor analysis revealed a two-factor solution. The SPS performed well suggesting that it is an appropriate tool to use as a measure of spirituality in pregnant African American women. ß

International Journal of Occupational Medicine and EnvironmentalAbstract Objectives: Panic behavior poses a particular threat to the health and safety of subaquatic occupational specialists. Trait anxiety has previously been identified as a marker of panic behavior under water, and Spielberger's State-Trait Personality Inventory (trait anxiety subscale) has been previously used to measure trait anxiety among subaquatic specialists. Using archived data, the trait anxiety scores of subaquatic specialists were analyzed to meet 3 objectives: 1stly -to develop a trait anxiety profile of subaquatic specialists; 2ndly -to investigate the predictive value of trait anxiety measures upon entering an occupational field; and 3rdly -to establish the reliability of these scores over time. Material and Methods: Archival trait-anxiety data from 322 subjects were analyzed statistically. Results: Analysis of the available scores revealed a highly homogenous as well as a very low trait anxiety profile for the investigated occupational group. Additionally, low trait anxiety was somewhat associated with success during specialist training: fewer candidates with high trait anxiety scores completed their qualification. Moreover, measurement of trait anxiety was stable over time, which suggests that when scores for this occupational group are screened, deviations from previous scores could signify a potential need for referral to an intervention from health professionals. Conclusions: Using the trait anxiety subscale as part of occupational health surveillance of subaquatic specialists could support prevention of accidents by identifying high-risk candidates during their annual health assessments, and referral for timeous intervention.
