Adsorptive Desulfurization of Iraqi Light Naphtha Using Calcite and Modified Calcite

Ahmed Qasim,
Hameed Hussein Alwan

Abstract: This study used the adsorption method to remove sulfur compounds from light naphtha fuel by using calcite and modified calcite as adsorbents. The calcite was prepared from chicken eggshells by heating and activation methods. It was modified by mixing it with commercial activated carbon as a new adsorbent. XRD and FTIR were used to characterize the adsorbents. Light naphtha fuel from the Al-Diwaniyah refinery, with a sulfur concentration of 776 ppm, was used in batch adsorption studies. Various operation condit… Show more

“…Among them, they stated that the equilibrium adsorption amount (qe) of NH 2 -MIL-125 for DBT at 150 °C reached 112 mg g −1 . Qasim et al; 8 in their study conducted in 2024, used the adsorption method to remove sulfur compounds from light naphtha fuel by using calcite and modified calcite as adsorbents. They obtained calcite, which they used as an adsorbent, from egg shells and modified it with activated carbon.…”

“…After thoroughly mixing the mixture at the same temperature until the colour turned crimson, it was allowed to boil for 20 min. 7,8 GO was created using the modified Hummers technique. [12][13][14] By reducing graphene oxide with hydrazine monohydrate, graphene was created.…”
