“…(a) Development of metal-free carbon catalysts, i.e., fullerenes (C60), carbon nanotubes (CNTs), graphene, graphitic carbon nitride (g-C 3 N 4 ), ordered mesoporous carbon (OMC) in PMS/PDS advanced oxidation processes, and (b) scheme of PMS/PDS activation via radical and non-radical pathway for pollutant degradation. (Yi et al, 2020), adsorption (Fronczak, 2020), and photocatalytic oxidation of pollutants via PDS activation (Jiang et al, 2016). However, none has put together photocatalytic PDS and PMS activation via g-C 3 N 4 targeted for organic pollutant elimination.…”

“…The porous carbon nitride frameworks like C 2 N and C 3 N 4 have been observed to be suitable materials for wastewater treatment. 3,[23][24][25][26] Graphitic carbon nitride based adsorbents are found to be better and cost effective than activated carbon. The Al@C 2 N ML is demonstrated to be suitable as an adsorbent for enrichment and utilization of various volatile organic compounds.…”

“…Thus, an increase in the quantity and variety of functional groups on the surface of g-CN could benefit adsorption performance of g-CN via enhanced hydrogen bonding interactions . Finally, hydrophobic interactions have proven crucial during interactions between g-CN and perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA). , Despite all of the possible interactions that could benefit adsorption, pristine g-CN is not widely applied in the adsorption processes, probably due to its small specific surface area (<10 m 2 /g) . Given the importance of specific surface areas in determining the accessibility of active sites, other properties such as the number and nature of active sites are also crucial parameters to consider.…”
