In this study, eggshell as a biomaterial was used as an adsorbent. This natural waste material is easy to access and cost-free. The surface of the eggshell with its porous structure showed affinity to adsorb damaging chemicals. In particular insecticides cause serious environmental pollution in agriculture, and this is a general problem all over the world. The aim was to remove insecticides from the environment and monitor the pesticides on the surface of eggshells by atomic force microscopy (AFM) images, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and UV/Vis spectroscopic techniques. Five types of eggshells, Denizli Hen, Coturnix Coturnix Japonica, Light Brahma Chicken, Alectoris Chukar and ISA Tinted -White , were used. Since they are commonly used, Cypermethrin, Deltamethrin and Indoxacarb were chosen as insecticide samples. The interaction effect of insecticides on the surface of eggshells was determined by AFM images; it was seen that the semispherical surface structures of the eggshells were flattened after adsorption. FTIR spectroscopy was used both to detect structural analysis and to determine the adsorption influence. In addition, UV-Vis spectroscopy was performed to evaluate the adsorption and desorption process. Porous media of different types of eggshells with an aqueous solution of insecticides had an electronegativity attractive surface which makes it an ideal adsorbent via hydroxyl groups.

Despite the efficiency of ZnO nanoparticle (NPs) composite adsorbents in the adsorption of various pollutants, there is presently no report on the combo of Znonps with biomass for adsorption. Besides, there is a dearth of information on the biosorption of celestine blue (ceB), a dye used in the nuclear and textile industry. in this study, biogenic-chemically mediated synthesis of a composite (Zno@Acp) was prepared by the impregnation of Znonps onto Ananas comosus waste (Acp) for the adsorption of ceB. the SeM, eDX, ftiR, XRD, Bet, and tGA characterizations showed the successful presence of Znonps on the biomass to form a nanocomposite. the uptake of ceB was enhanced by the incorporation of ZnONPs on ACP. A faster CEB adsorption onto ZnO@ACP (120 min) compared to ACP (160 min) was observed. The Langmuir (R 2 > 0.9898) and pseudo-second-order (R 2 > 0.9518) models were most appropriate in the description of the adsorption process. the impregnation of Znonps onto the biomass enhanced the spontaneity of the process and displayed endothermic characteristics. High CEB desorption of 81.3% from the dye loaded ZnO@ACP as well as efficient reusability showed the efficacy of the prepared nanocomposite for CEB adsorption. The pollution of environmental water from industrial effluents contaminated with industrial by-products is on the rise. This is attributed to the rapid growth of industries, hence the increase in industrial activities across the globe. About 700,000 tons of over 100,000 commercial dyes are produced annually in industries, which makes dye the most common water pollutant 1. Most dyes are used in the textile and paper industries and are frequently encountered in the effluents subsequently released into the environment 2,3. These dyes present in the environmental waters can be carcinogenic, mutagenic, and result in chronic illnesses in humans and aquatic organisms 3,4. Apart from that, they reflect or absorb light entering the water thus hindering the photosynthetic activity of aquatic plants 1. Therefore, the removal of dyes from wastewater is necessary to abate their harmful effects on the ecosystem 5,6. Most dye removal studies have focused on the removal of dyes such as methylene blue, congo red, malachite green, rhodamine B, methyl orange, methyl violet, reactive black, basic blue, acid yellow, brilliant green, and crystal violet 7,8. However, research on the removal of celestine blue (CEB) is rare despite the wide use of CEB in the nuclear and textile industries. Therefore, the removal of CEB from wastewater is important. Several techniques have been harnessed for the remediation of dye-polluted water, such as filtration, coagulation, oxidation, precipitation, reduction, photocatalytic degradation, solvent extraction, and adsorption 9. Organic pollutants, such as dyes, have a negative effect on the aqueous environment, therefore, their elimination from water bodies is a high priority. In this work, Eichhornia crassipes and Salvinia natans, both model plants with high phytoremediation efficiency, were exposed to various concentrations (Ci = 50–500 mg/L) of Eriochrome Black T (EBT). Their capacity to assimilate EBT was studied for 16 days of exposure, similar to natural conditions and by spectrophotometric monitoring of the dye concentration (EE. crassipes; 150 mg/L = 33%; ES. natans; 150 mg/L = 71.5%). The changes of the experimental parameters (pH—equalised by day 5, temperature, humidity, light intensity) were followed, and plant growth and biochemical responses to toxic stress effects (photosynthetic pigments, Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX)—decreased effect of P, Mg, Ca, S and K, Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), defense enzyme) were examined. Furthermore, changes in oxidative- and photo-degradation of EBT in time and the solid-state properties (SEM, EDX, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy-FTIR) of the dye were investigated. Our results demonstrate that, despite the toxic stress, both species succeeded in reducing the dye-concentration of the water and S. natans proved to be more efficient in binding and removing organic dyes. With our findings, we proved that both plants alleviated the abiotic stress of dye contamination.
