“…In this study, nitrogenous functional groups were used to treat PET surfaces. The effectiveness of protein attachment to aminated surfaces has been demonstrated by a number of authors 2–8. The initial modification step in other reported methods has often involved the attachment of nitrogenous functionalities via plasma and silane treatments.…”

“…In a previous study,9 we prepared porous PAN beads with defined porosity and then made six types of chemically modified sorbents. We proved that the modified PAN sorbent with NaOH and NH 2 OH (AMCAPAN) had the best sorption characteristics.…”

“…A higher number of TC units per β‐CD are an indication of a higher crosslinking degree. Before interfacial polymerization occurs, some of the hydroxyl ions present in the aqueous phase are consumed to ionize β‐CD molecules and to partially hydrolyze the PAN support . For this reason NaOH concentrations of 1 m or more were needed for sufficient presence of hydroxyl ions inside the pores of the support to hydrolyze the β‐CD film at the rate necessary to achieve the desired crumpled morphology.…”
