“…This behavior can be related to the results from mechanical testing, indicating that CCit interacted more strongly with MMT than with the starch. According to the literature, carboxylic acids are able to adsorb on the clay surface , but investigations of crosslinking reactions of citric acid in starch‐based films in the presence of clay have been poorly described, at least via IR techniques. The hindering activity of montmorillonite has been reported , where increasing addition of MMT led to slightly decreased grafting percentage of acrylic acid on maize starch, but this correlation was based on a titration method.…”
