Adsorption of indigo carmine and methylene blue dye: Taguchi’s design of experiment to optimize removal efficiency

Abstract: In the present study, Taguchi's experimental methodology has been applied to find optimum level (value) of adsorption parameters (factors) for the removal of indigo carmine dye (ICD) and methylene blue dye (MBD) using activated carbon derived from Acacia Nilotica sawdust (ACSA). The effect of significant adsorption parameters, viz. adsorbent dose (m), initial concentration (C 0), temperature (T) and contact time (t), on the adsorption capacity (q t) of ACSA for each dye has been discussed. Average values and S… Show more

“…Response surface method (RSM) can be mentioned as an example [ 48 ]. The DoE methods reduce the number of necessary measurements, which shortens the required time, decreases the material consumption and the costs of experiments [ 49 , 50 , 51 ]. Due to the limited application of the models designated by means of RSM, the models devised with the data mining methods, for instance artificial neural networks (ANN), are highly useful [ 52 , 53 , 54 ].…”

“…Today, litter in the form of water and its scarcity is the major concern. Due to uneconomical and ineffective water treatment, a lot of manufacturing and production industries discharge their contaminated water to nearby land or water sources without any processing or treatment [1]. Physico-chem adsorption is one among the majority of treatment systems.…”
