Adsorption of As(V) from Aqueous Solution on Chitosan-Modified Diatomite

Abstract: A novel chitosan (CS)-modified diatomite (Dt) was prepared by a simple mixture in the mass ratio to remove As(V) from aqueous solution in this research. The CS-modified Dt adsorbent was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) analysis. The parameters to influence the adsorption of As(V) ion were studied under such conditions as kinetics, adsorption isotherm, and pH effect. The results revealed that adsorption of As(… Show more

“…[36]. In this phase, the growth rate is accompanied by the speed of deathcells [37]. Immobilization of the ctinase enzyme on the ktiosan membrane preserves the optimum conditions for the amobil chitosan membrane, namely the concentration ratio of 1: 3: 3 (acetic acid: chitosan: chitinsase) The morphology of the amobil chitinase enzyme on the chitosan.…”

“…Among these applications, chitosan has received great interest as adsorbents for wastewater treatment [ 18 , 19 , 20 , 21 ]. On the other hand, in the recent literature, some papers deal with the combined use of both diatomite and chitosan to produce adsorbents for environmental pollutant removal, with the aim to evaluate their synergistic adsorption properties [ 22 , 23 , 24 , 25 , 26 , 27 ]. Herein, a chitosan-modified diatomite was synthesized with the aim to produce a novel, broad spectrum hybrid adsorbent.…”
