“…KCl was further cleaned by manifold recrystallization from six times distilled water obtained according to the procedure described earlier, and then roasted for 8 h at a temperature of 500 °C. The purity of KCl stock solution was further checked by the tensammetric measurements performed according to the method described elsewhere . No capacitance change of the hanging mercury electrode was observed for 1 h experiments.…”

“…Alkyl derivatives of 1,3-dioxane are interesting amphiphiles to study the influence of changes in the headgroup composition and configuration on the surfactants' adsorption properties. [1][2][3][4][5] In refs 1-3 we reported on effects of stereochemistry on the adsorption properties of surfaceactive cis-and trans-2-n-alkyl-5-hydroxy-1,3-dioxanes. Out of the four geometric isomers of glycerol acetals, cisand trans-2-n-alkyl-4-hydroxymethyl-1,3-dioxolanes and cis-and trans-2-n-alkyl-5-hydroxy-1,3-dioxanes, 6 the latter revealed not only distinct differences in their surface properties with respect to the molecules' stereochemical configuration [1][2][3] but showed also characteristic alternation effects of the even/odd-numbered n-alkyl chains, 2 , i.e., it was found that subtle differences in the molecules' geometry are distinctly reflected in their adsorption properties.…”
