Adsorption Kinetics of Cupric Ions on Mixture of Modified Corn Stalk and Modified Tomato Waste

Abstract: The water crisis is an increasingly severe global problem that may be reduced by reusing wastewater after suitable treatment methods. Nowadays, biosorption is one of the main parts of environmental technology which could adsorb heavy metals. This paper describes the adsorption of Copper(II) ions from aqueous solution using a mixture of corn stalk and tomato waste which were oxidized with nitric acid. Kinetic and isotherm studies were carried out by studying the effects of parameters such as concentration dosag… Show more

“…In contrast, pseudo-second-order assumes that intra-particle diffusion controls the adsorption rate. Lagergren first proposed this kinetic study model to describe the adsorption of pollutant liquid on the surface solid and differentiate it from the kinetic system based on concentration (Vafakhah et al, 2016). The experimental results of the kinetic parameters are given in Table 4 and Figure 8.…”

“…Agricultural discard, especially corn stalk (corn is a major crop in Heilongjiang province, providing grain reserves, feed, and industrial raw materials) is an important part of agricultural straw in Heilongjiang province. Another abundant straw waste, rice, was chemically modified and studied as a biosorbent by Vafakhah et al [13]. A mixture of corn stalk and tomato waste was oxidized with nitric acid, used to investigate the adsorption of copper(II) ions.…”
