Adsorption Behavior of Metal Ions on Cellulose Fiber Modified with Schiff Base Compound Having Pyridyl Groups

Abstract: A cellulose fiber was modified with Schiff base compound having the complexation ability of metal ions, and the modified cellulose fiber used as a metal ion adsorbent. The modified cellulose fiber was synthesized by reacting glycidyl methacrylate using diammonium cerium(IV) nitrate as a catalyst followd by reacting with bis-(2-pyridylmethylideneiminoethyl) amine as Schiff base compound having pyridyl groups.
