Adsorption Behavior of Azo Dye Eriochrome Black T from Aqueous Solution by β-Cyclodextrins/Polyurethane Foam Material

Abstract: b-cyclodextrin/polyurethane (b-CD/PU) materials were prepared by foaming technique. The adsorption behavior of EBT on b-CD/PU material and the influences on the adsorption efficiency were investigated. Under the optimal experimental conditions, the maximum adsorption efficiency of EBT was 93.14%. The kinetics characteristic and thermodynamic parameters were analyzed. The experimental isotherms data were analyzed using Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm equations and the results indicated that the Langmuir isothe… Show more

“…The first model investigated was pseudo‐first‐order Eq. : ln()qeqt=lnqeK1t where the concentration of the CV adsorbed at equilibrium and at time t is q e (mol g −1 ) and q t (mol g −1 ), respectively, and K 1 is the first‐order rate constant in min −1 (Dong et al, ). Figure shows a straight line when ln( q e − q t ) is plotted against t , with a negative rate constant for the adsorption of CV–SDS.…”

“…These isotherms allow the comparison of different adsorption systems persisting in different experimental conditions. Adsorption on a uniform surface with equivalent adsorption capacity is well described by the Langmuir isotherm, which suggests monolayer adsorption (Crini, 2008;Dong et al, 2013). It also suggests no additional adsorption if dye molecules cover the active sites on the adsorbent.…”
