Adsorption behavior and mechanism of CO2in the Longmaxi shale gas reservoir

Abstract: The micropore filling mainly occurs in micropores, including the slit, capillary and ink-shaped pores. Molecular layer adsorption mainly occurs in mesopores and macropores, including the slit, plate, capillary and ink-shaped pores.

“…Experiments were carried out at three distinct temperatures 35 °C, 45 °C, and 55 0 C at seven different pressure values form 1-8MPa to better understand the significance of temperature in the adsorption process as shown in (Table 2). The chosen temperatures were meant to mimic actual conditions where there can be significant variations in subsurface temperature [22,23].…”

“…The pore size is correlated to partial pressure. Several adsorption theories and models have been proposed for adsorption of differing gases in pores in various rock types, for example, CO 2 in shale (Xie et al, 2022).…”

“…Shale gas plays a crucial role in natural gas production in China because its great potential (recoverable reserves of ~3.12 × 10 13 m 3 ) (Liu et al, 2019a;Li et al, 2019;Yao et al, 2019). The exploration and development of shale gas is the choice of fossil energy resource and national needs, which is of great significance to China's energy security (Xie et al, 2022). The methane content of shales is generally greater than 85%, even up to 99% (Howarth et al, 2011).…”
