Adopting an Actor Analysis Framework to a Complex Technology Innovation Project: A Case Study of an Electric Road System

Abstract: An electric road system (ERS) is a transportation solution that provides electricity for fully electric vehicles while in motion. This solution might contribute to sustainable transportation by overcoming range anxiety problems that fully electric vehicles, especially heavy vehicles, have encountered due to battery technology limitations. However, large-scale ERS implementations are challenging, both technically and socially. An ERS is not only an engineering project, but also a complex technology innovation s… Show more

“…In the Bruneian test case, the impetus for EV implementation is primarily driven by the government, with the adoption of EVs aligning nicely with the government's objective of mitigating CO 2 emissions and contributing to a more environmentally sustainable future for Brunei, thereby coming closer to the implementation of its 2035 Wawasan target. Brunei is also one of the highest users of ICEVs, with per capita usage of approximately 1 vehicle per capita, with EVs constituting only a very small percentage [41]. The increased adoption of EVs and the use of renewable energies have been touted as the way forward to reduce CO 2 emissions.…”

“…Due to the competitive business environment, innovative and complexity-free projects are expected for organizational success (Mahmoud-Jouini et al , 2016; Beste et al , 2020; Wang et al , 2020). All organizations would like to run a project that finishes with the desired quality standards, within the given time limits and within the predetermined budgets (Khadem et al , 2018).…”
