Adolescence Romantic Relationship and Executive Functions: Literature Review Regarding Attention Control and Academic Competence

Abstract: In this article, I review the association between middle adolescent romantic relationships and cognitive control of attention. I identify the cognitive development in executive functions due to romantic love, which is found to be positive over the romantically stable period. I present the findings in both positive and negative aspects, as well as clarifying the relationship between increasing executive functions and academic or social competence.
