Adiponectin and pro‐inflammatory cytokines are modulated in Vietnamese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus

Abstract: Aims/IntroductionAdipose tissue‐derived hormones are associated with metabolic disorders including type 2 diabetes mellitus. The present study investigated the levels of adiponectin and pro‐inflammatory cytokines including tumor necrosis factor‐α (TNF‐α), interleukin‐1 beta (IL‐1β) and IL‐10 in Vietnamese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, and their correlations with clinical parameters of overweight and type 2 diabetes mellitus.Materials and MethodsBased on body mass index, 73 patients with type 2 diabet… Show more

“…In addition, the associations between insulin resistance, low-grade inflammation and type-I diabetes mellitus have been investigated in a previous study (42). Changes in inflammatory/necrosis biomarkers following exercise treatment have been analyzed in the progression of diabetes mellitus (43,44). However, to the best of our knowledge, the molecular mechanisms involved in diabetes mellitus have not been clearly elaborated during previous studies.…”

“…HMW treatment improved glucose homeostasis and reduced inflammation by regulating APPL1-AMPK-GLUT4 signaling in 3T3-L1 adipocytes subjected to glucolipotoxicity [132]. In addition, some studies indicated that HMW has a negative relationship with inflammatory markers in type 2 diabetic patients [133][134][135] and obese people [136].…”

“…Adiponectin and leptin, the most prevalent adipo-cytokines, produced in adipose tissue, play critical metabolic and anti-inflammatory roles through adipose tissue crosstalk. [81][82][83] Low adiponectin and high leptin correlate with many metabolic diseases including T2D, MS, and obesity [82][83][84][85][86][87] and are considered as predictive clinical markers. While some studies showed HIIT does not affect adiponectin 53,56,88 or leptin, 58,89 others report increased adiponectin 41,45,55,67 and decreased leptin.…”
