Adipokine Retinol Binding Protein 4 and Cardiovascular Diseases

Abstract: The morbidity and mortality of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) have been increasing year by year all over the world and expanding greatly to the younger population, which becomes the leading causes of death globally that threatens human life safety. Prediction of the occurrence of diseases by using risk related adverse events is crucial for screening and early detection of CVDs. Thus, the discovery of new biomarkers that related to risks of CVDs are of urgent in the field. Retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4) is a … Show more

“…Although the immunodepletion enabled detection of more lowexpressed proteins (total 830 DEP versus 730 non-DEP), we did not nd improved resolution of differentially detected peptides for the purposes of the current study. RBP4 (retinol binding protein 4) is an adipokine member of the lipocalin protein family, and is the protein carrier for retinol (vitamin A) in blood (21,22). RBP4 has previously been implicated as a biomarker for metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease (21)(22)(23).…”

“…Besides the adipokines and cytokines roles in the induction of insulin resistance, it has been found that elevated level of RBP4 may linked to obesity, and other risk factor, such as cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia [ 25 , 26 ]. Higher serum concentration of RBP was shown correlated with higher level of glucose, triglycerides, and cholesterol in human [ 27 , 28 ].…”

“…Cardiovascular disease (CVD) has become a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among chronic diseases worldwide. [169][170][171][172][173] Atherosclerosis (AS) is considered as one of the primary causes of CVD. [174][175][176] AS usually leads to myocardial ischemia or cerebral ischemia.…”
