Under the guidance of Keele's (2007) suggested methodology, this systematic literature review (SLR) explores the application of stakeholder theory in education management. The study, which was organized into phases for planning, reviewing, conducting, and reporting, sought to provide a thorough analysis of current trends, the effect of stakeholder strategies on educational success, and challenges to their application. Major online databases and search terms were used to find 767 papers, of which 55 primary studies were chosen for study. 14 thematic clusters were identified by Leximancer analysis, underscoring the importance of stakeholder theory in helping to comprehend educational organizations and improve decision-making procedures. It has become clear that promoting accountability, encouraging inclusion, and improving educational quality and relevance all depend heavily on stakeholder engagement. In order to enhance decision-making and overall school performance, the review highlights the significance of many stakeholder perspectives and voices in educational environments. Future study should look into novel techniques to engaging stakeholders, evaluate the impact over an extended period of time, and analyse the roles of newly emerging stakeholders. Despite the benefits of methodology, certain drawbacks are recognized, including possible biases in the literature selection process and an under-representation of stakeholder views. By resolving these issues and including many disciplinary viewpoints, the study's robustness may be improved, and the connection between stakeholder theory and education management can be better understood.

The school principals' role in developing the professional capital of teachers: evidence from principals and teachers

PurposeAlthough building professional capital improves student learning and the effectiveness of schools in educating students, it needs to be explored in the area of primary schools in Ethiopia. Thus, this study was conducted to explore the practices of primary school principals to develop the professional capital of teachers and the associated challenges.Design/methodology/approachA case study was used to collect data from nine teachers and five principals of Ethiopian primary schools using a maximum variation sampling. Data obtained from interviews and two focus groups were subjected to thematic analysis.FindingsPrincipals and teachers reported that to develop the human capital of teachers, principals provided teachers with opportunities to attend training, encouraged informal collaboration for professional improvement and encouraged the practice of continuous professional development programs. For the development of social capital among teachers, the principals also formed various social groups, encouraged frequent interactions between school stakeholders and created a caring school culture to strengthen the interactions between school stakeholders. For building the decision-making capital of teachers, principals promoted an environment in which teachers' professional judgment and wisdom are respected and so forth. The challenges to develop professional capital were related to teachers and principals, schools and education bureaus.Originality/valueBuilding teachers' professional capital increases school effectiveness, although primary schools still need to investigate this further. Therefore, by improving knowledge and information on approaches to building professional capital in teachers, this study is important to administrators and other relevant school stakeholders. This also helps principals transform their leadership behavior to be more pedagogical in leading teaching and learning and enhance teachers' ability to build and exercise effective social and professional behaviors towards their students in their daily practices.

Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis for validating a distributed leadership inventory for secondary schools in Ethiopia

This study aimed to validate the Ethiopian version of the distributed leadership inventory (DLI-Eth) and evaluate its psychometric properties. The survey was administered to 714 randomly selected teachers. The data were subjected to data cleaning and preliminary analysis for normality and multivariate assumptions using SPSS version 23 with an extension of AMOS. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were performed to identify the cluster of items and test model fit. The principal component analysis extraction method with varimax rotation revealed a significant four-factor solution. The four-factor structure accounted for 70.04% of the cumulative variance. The results showed that the proposed model met the acceptable model fit. The study concluded that the DLI-Eth is a good tool for measuring distributed leadership functions in Ethiopia. Moreover, this paper makes a practical contribution to future leadership investigators by providing a validated inventory to broaden our understanding of distributed leadership in a non-Western context.
