Addressing Physical Health Needs of Individuals With Schizophrenia Using Orem’s Theory

Abstract: People with schizophrenia have increased morbidity and mortality rates associated with poor physical health that requires a holistic and comprehensive nursing approach. Dorothy Orem's self-care deficit nursing theory (SCDNT) has made a substantive contribution to nursing by focusing on people as whole entities who engage with their environment to sustain health.
