“…Headwaters with meltwater inputs from glaciers, ice, and/or snowpack are known to support a number of rare and endemic aquatic insect species (Winterbourn et al ., ; Brown et al ., ; Snook and Milner, ). In addition, documenting rare and endemic taxa is important for state records (Kondratieff & Lechleitner, ) and providing biological information that is essential for optimising management and monitoring efforts (Baumann & Kondratieff, ). This study provides information on the presence and distribution of several cold‐water, spring‐seep, rare, and possibly endemic taxa; however, more research is needed to help identify species range limits, vulnerability, and the strength of observed geohydrologic‐ecological linkages (Brown et al ., ).…”

“…Ricker (1943) placed the species in his new subgenus Moselia, which was raised to generic status by Illies (1966). The species has been reported from British Columbia to California and Nevada (Ricker 1943, Jewett 1959, Needham and Claassen 1925, Stark et al 1998, Stewart and Oswood 2006, and adult terminalia have been illustrated by Needham and Claassen (1925), Jewett (1959), Kondratieff and Lechleitner (2002), and Stewart and Oswood (2006).…”

“…Indeed, despite seven years of relatively intense stonefly collecting in Mt. Rainier National Park by Kondratieff and Lechleitner (2002), This study also highlights additional challenges to understanding the species' current distribution. For example, surveys at two other previously-documented sites, one historic (Upper Bagley Lake) and one recent (Colchuck Lake), resulted in no detections.…”
