Abstract: Under which conditions does national parliamentary discourse politicise European Union (EU) policy evaluation? In times of multiple crises and uncertainty, the alleged 'democratic deficit' of the EU, defined as an apparent lack of legitimacy, has regained scholarly and popular attention.
