Adaptive parallelism with RMI: Idle high-performance computing resources can be completely avoided.

Abstract: A new parallel high-performance computing setup, which can use every little bit of computing resources left over by traditional scheduling, regardless how small or big it may be. This enables HPC providers to achieve 100 percent load on their machines at all times, and it enables HPC users to get substantial computing time on HPC systems that are "full" with traditional jobs.<br>

“…The core of this framework is a generation-free Genetic Algorithm (GA), including options for problem-specific “phenotype” operators, ,, niching, , and further ingredients that increase optimization efficiency. Additionally, ogolem features advanced parallelization techniques that allow for failsafe computing distributed across strongly heterogeneous hardware and for highly adaptive parallel runs that exploit traditionally inaccessible scheduling gaps . Partially, existing ogolem algorithm concepts have been reused or adapted to the current problem.…”
