“…Hossen et al [6,7] have proposed a new DBA algorithm for the multi-OLT PON-based hybrid networks. However, those papers have considered a network structure where a single uplink wavelength is used and every ONU is connected to a single service provider.…”

“…In the multi-OLT PON-based hybrid networks, proposed by Hossen et al [6,7], each ONU connects to the users of a single service provider that means no need to share a single ONU by the multiple service providers. However, in the PON-based OAN each ONU should be shared by all the service providers.…”

“…In [2][3][4], the authors have proposed adaptive DBA algorithms for the PON based hybrid fiber to the home (FTTH) and wireless sensor networks (WSNs). The main concern of these adaptive DBA algorithms is to mitigate the problems associated for converging data packets of both the FTTH and WSNs in a single PON having different packet lengths and data rates.…”

“…That is why, in the time division multiple access (TDMA) PON, a dynamic bandwidth allocation (DBA) algorithm plays a significant role for providing efficient and fair utilization of the upstream channel bandwidth. The DBA is a technique by which bandwidth in a single channel can be allocated to the ONUs of a PON on the basis of their demands [1][2][3][4][5][6]. One of the main advantages of the DBA algorithms is that it can reduce the bandwidth wastage by allocating smaller transmission windows if there is lightly loaded ONUs.…”

“…In [24], a hybrid approach combining genetic algorithm and tabu search techniques was proposed to determine the optimal placement of optical network units (ONUs)-the CPE of a PON-in hybrid PON-wireless sensor network (WSN) based networks, whereby the ONUs' high power and processing capabilities were used to serve as cluster heads with the objective to minimize the wireless sensors' energy consumption. In [25], a DBA algorithm was developed for a hybrid PON-WSN network, where ONUs are connected to FTTH terminals or to WSN cluster heads for remote monitoring systems in a ubiquitous city, e.g., medical sensors in a hospital monitoring system. The integration of solar-powered wireless sensors and low-power fiber optic sensors into a PON was experimentally demonstrated in [26].…”
