Background. The development of short-stem cultivars is an effective way to increase the productivity of winter wheat grown under the intensive cultivation technology. Dwarf mutants, induced in the exclusion zone of ChNPP, can preserve a productive potential of an initial cultivar and be of a breeding value. The knowledge of the inheritance regularities of stem length by dwarf winter wheat mutants makes it possible to choose the pairs for crossing better and predict a final result in hybrid generations earlier. Materials and methods. Hybrids F1 і F2 of Triticum aestivum L. were received by crossing medium-grown cultivar Sonechko with dwarf mutant lines UK 1145/10, UK 1147/10, and UK 1148/10, induced by the effect of the radionuclide contamination of the exclusion zone of ChNNP on the plants of ‘Albatros odeskyi’ cultivar. The nature of the trait inheritance in F1 was determined by the degree of phenotype dominance, the variability of plant height was determined by a variation coefficient. The segregation frequency of dwarf, low-, medium- and high-grown forms was accounted in the population of F2 plants. Results. By stem length, plants F1 exceeded the genotypes involved in hybridization, or were closer to parental forms with a greater manifestation of the trait. The real heterosis in the plant height decrease was shown in the F1 hybrid ‘Sonechko’ × UK 1147/10. The hybrid productivity elements are inherited by the type of a partial positive dominance and over-dominance. From 2.2 % to 3.6 % of high-grown forms, atypical for parents, were recorded in the population of F2. Conclusions. When the crossing combination includes a medium-grown cultivar of winter wheat and dwarf mutants, induced in the exclusion zone of ChNPP, a stem length in F1 is inherited by an intermediate type and partial positive dominance. Dwarf mutant UK 1147/10 can be valuable for breeding short stem winter bread wheat. A significant variation of such indicator as a degree of phenotype dominance by all studied features confirms a complicated nature of genetic determination of a plant height and the productivity elements of winter wheat, in the formation of which various types of gene interaction take part.

Створення сортів з високим продуктивним потенціалом, стійких до мінливих умов навколишнього середовища, є одним із першочергових завдань сучасної селекції. Мета дослідження. Порівняльна оцінка різних за висотою сортів пшениці м’якої озимої за довжиною головного стебла та окремими міжвузлями, а також встановлення особливостей їх формування і мінливості, залежно від метеорологічних умов та генотипу. Методи. У 2019−2022 рр. в умовах дослідного поля навчально-виробничого центру Білоцерківського НАУ досліджували сорти пшениці м’якої озимої, які відповідно міжнародного класифікатора РЕВ роду Triticum L., згідно даних оригінаторів, були розподілені на групи за висотою рослин. Біометричний аналіз проводили за середнім зразком 25 рослин у трикратній повторності, відповідно до загальноприйнятих методик. Результати. Формування міжвузлів стебла пшениці м’якої озимої у 2019–2022 рр. відбувалося в складних гідротермічних умовах, які суттєво впливали на їх довжину. Довжина порядкових міжвузлів різних за висотою сортів характеризувалась певними відмінностями. У середньорослого сорту І групи Лісова пісня частка другого, третього та четвертого міжвузлів була найменшою серед усіх досліджуваних генотипів – 8,6; 13,4 та 22,8% відповідно, при цьому визначено максимальний вклад колосоносного міжвузля – 51,4%. Високорослий сорт Одеська 267 відзначався найбільшим впливом третього та четвертого міжвузля – 17,6 і 26,9% відповідно, за найменшої частки п’ятого у формуванні довжини стебла – 40,4%. Висновки. Дослідженнями встановлено, що за однакових метеорологічних умов більшість низькорослих сортів ІІ групи і середньорослих І формують меншу довжину першого, другого і третього міжвузлів у порівнянні з середньорослими ІІ групи і високорослими. Водночас, максимальні показники першого-четвертого міжвузлів визначено в більшості високорослих сортів, а п’ятого в середньорослих І і ІІ груп.

Peculiarities of the phenotypic dominance degree manifestation by stem length in F1bread winter wheat

The manifestation of the phenotypic dominance degree of the main stem length in F1 under hybridization of diﬀerent varieties of bread winter wheat was studied during diﬀerent for hydrothermal conditions 2018–2020. In the hybridization of Bilotserkivska napivkarlykova variety with medium-growing varieties of groups 1 and 2, the most common type of stem length inheritance was negative overdominance – 54.5 % and positive overdominance – 27.3 %. The degree of phenotypic dominance varied from -63.0 to +7.4. When used medium-sized varieties of group I in the crossing with the maternal form, the degree of phenotypic dominance had a signifcant diﬀerentiation from -257.0 to +35.0, and the determination of stem length in most combinations was negatively overdominated – 61.4 %. The combinations Shchedra nyva/Dobirna, Shchedra nyva/Vidrada, Myronivska early/Kolchuga, Antonivka/Vidrada were characterized by a stable manifestation of a negative degree of phenotypic dominance (h p > -1). When involved in the hybridization of medium-sized varieties of group 2 in the maternal form, the most common type of stem length inheritance had negative dominance as well. It was found that the degree of phenotypic dominance of stem length in F 1 depended on the selection of parental forms for hybridization and year conditions. Thus, in 2020, under more favorable conditions for the formation of stem length in most hybrids, a negative degree of phenotypic dominance was determined, and the inheritance was negatively dominated. High rates of negative hypothetical and true heterosis were found in the following hybrids: Shchedra nyva/Dobirna, Shchedra nyva/Vidrada, Kolchuga/Chornyava, Kolchuga/ Antonivka, Yednist/Dobirna, Kolchuga/Vidrada in 2018; Chornyava/Antonivka, Shchedra nyva/Dobirna, Shchedra nyva/Vidrada, Chorniava/Shchedra nyva in 2019; Myronivska early/Antonivka, Zolotokolosa/Antonivka, Myronivska early/Kolchuga, Myronivska early/Vdala, Zolotokolosa/ Yednist, Shchedra nyva/Stolychna, Shchedra nyva/Vidrada, Antonivka/Yednist, Antonivka/Vidrada, Kolchuga/Vidrada, Kolchuga/Stolychna in 2020.
