Adapted Moderate Training Exercise Decreases the Expression of Ngal in the Rat Kidney: An Immunohistochemical Study

Abstract: Neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) is a biomarker of several injuries and is upregulated in inflammatory conditions. Vitamin D was shown to have anti-inflammatory effects and to increase after physical activity. This work aimed to assess, through immunohistochemistry, the effects of an adapted moderate training exercise (AMTE) on the expression of NGAL and vitamin D receptor (VDR) in the kidney and heart of rats. Sixteen rats were distributed into two groups: the sedentary control group and the … Show more

“…Twenty-four healthy 3-month-old male Wistar Outbred Rats were randomly divided into two groups, with 12 rats per group: sedentary rats (Group 1, sedentary) and rats undergoing moderate exercise on the treadmill (Group 2, PA). The programming of moderate PA follows the moderate physical training protocol for rats previously described by Di Rosa et al [52]. In particular, Group 2 performed 12-week running training.…”
