Adaptation of the Endocrine Tissue of Rat Pancreas after Partial Pancreatectomy – A Morphometric Study

Abstract: The changes occurrring in the endocrine pancreas of the rat after partial pancreatectomy were studied morphometrically. Pancreatic adaptation to the functional deprivation of 75% of the endocrine tissue is characterized by a hyperplastic process with increased cell numbers and increased size and volume of the islets.
