Adaptability and stability of papaya hybrids affected by production seasonality

Abstract: The present work aimed to estimate the adaptability and stability of new papaya hybrids. The experiments were carried out at the company Caliman Agrícola S/A, in the municipalities of Linhares-ES and Pureza-RN, with seven hybrids from inbred parents of the groups 'Solo' and 'Formosa' and three controls ('Golden', 'Calimosa', and 'Tainung 01'). The experiment consisted of a randomized block design with four replications and ten plants per plot. The variables mean fruit weight (MFW), number of commercial fruits… Show more

“…In this study, the CVe values for NMF, NDF and YLD were considered high, agreeing with Ramos et al (2014), Luz et al (2015), Barros et al (2017), and Luz et al (2018). High CVe values indicate low experimental precision.…”

“…The use of the HMRPGV method allowed for cultivar selection based on N‐response indices, and cultivars were chosen according to adaptability and penalized for instability between environments (Rosado et al., 2019; Silva et al., 2019). This method has been used for the simultaneous selection of yield, adaptability, and stability in several crops such as common bean (Delfini et al., 2018), wheat (Coan et al., 2018), corn (Pinto et al, 2019), soybean (Freiria et al., 2018), and papaya (Luz et al., 2018). However, there had previously been no studies using the HMRPGV method based on responses to N‐response indices or in contrasting N top‐dressing environments.…”
