Adaptability and clinical applicability of UFS-QoL in Chinese women with uterine fibroid

Abstract: Objective To demonstrate the applicability and adaptability of uterine fibroid symptoms and quality of life (UFS-QoL) in assessing the efficacy of treatment in Chinese populations. Methods This is a secondary analysis of a prospective cohort study involving 20 Chinese hospitals and 2,411 Chinese women with fibroids. Patients completed UFS-QoL and short form-36 (SF-36) at pre-surgery, 6-month and 12-month post-treatments. Internal consistency of the… Show more

“…[14] Overall, in the present sample and the original validation study, the UFS-QoL-11 performed as well as the full version in the measures of reliability, validity, and responsiveness as the full version. [12] When comparing the correlations between the UFS-QoL and the full scale, the correlations were nearly identical. In sum, the UFS-QoL-11 scale will provide comparable information about the latent trait of symptoms and QoL for each respondent as the full scale currently does.…”

“…Overall, the test variables explained 64.46% of the total variance, which was slightly higher than the parent scale score of 63.60%. [12] Cronbach's alpha was calculated for each UFS-QoL-11 subscale to assess internal consistency. The UFS-QoL-11 questionnaire demonstrated good internal consistency and reliability for all the subscales (> 0.7).…”

“…Even so, more studies are needed to demonstrate its efficacy over LEU and its safety regarding side effects. 61,62 Pre-operative administration of UPA and LEU can reduce blood loss and operative time during laparoscopic myomectomy. The duration of the preoperative treatment with UPA and LEU showed different results regarding fibroids shrinking.…”
