ADAHELI+: exploring the fast, dynamic Sun in the x-ray, optical, and near-infrared

Abstract: Abstract. Advanced Astronomy for Heliophysics Plus (ADAHELI+) is a project concept for a small solar and space weather mission with a budget compatible with an European Space Agency (ESA) S-class mission, including launch, and a fast development cycle. ADAHELI+ was submitted to the European Space Agency by a European-wide consortium of solar physics research institutes in response to the "Call for a small mission opportunity for a launch in 2017," of March 9, 2012. The ADAHELI+ project builds on the heritage o… Show more

The R value is defined in (Schrijver 2007) and is a measure of the unsigned photospheric magnetic flux close to selected PILs, where an appropriate weighting map is applied for the SOHO/MDI instrument.…”

“…4.3.3 X-ray polarimetric imaging to reveal the nature of the polarization of hard X-ray sources in the solar atmosphere X-ray polarimetry of solar flares could be a new tool for novel research in the field of Space Weather science (Hardi et al, 2012;Berrilli et al, 2015), being a powerful diagnostic of the properties of the magnetic field and of the plasma acceleration regions in the Sun's atmosphere. Indeed, direct electromagnetic information from the reconnection region associated with the CME is likely the fastest alert of the entire event.…”

“…The overall budget need for the TSST is ∼ 50 ke, while, for instance, instruments based on Fabry-Pérot interferometers with similar magnetic performance require ∼ 300 ke just for the etalons and controllers components (see e.g. Berrilli et al 2010Berrilli et al , 2015. As far as robotization and remote control of the telescope are concerned, we collaborated with highly experienced groups, and we have purchased components, telescope mount and dome controlled by off-the-shelf software packages.…”
