Acute Tubular Necrosis and Thrombocytopenia Associated With Rifampin Use: Case Report and Review

Abstract: A case of rifampin-induced acute tubular necrosis requiring haemodialysis in a patient receiving thrice weekly rifampin with daily dapsone for re-treatment of relapsed Hansen’s disease is reported. The patient had positive rifampin-dependent anti-platelet antibodies. Case reports of acute renal failure associated with the use of rifampin are summarised.
