Abstract: Neck stiffness is a common clinical sign in children presenting to the emergency department that may indicate a wide variety of diagnoses. Acute suppurative thyroiditis (AST) is an infection of the thyroid gland caused by a bacterium, virus, or, less commonly, fungus.
