A cute pancreatitis is a potentially life-threatening inflammation of the pancreas characterized by a severe inflammatory response with possible multiple-organ failure (Lankisch, Apte, & Banks, 2015). pancreatitis commonly presents with severe epigastric pain that often radiates to the back, as well as nausea and vomiting. Acute pancreatitis is the second highest cause of hospital stay and the fifth leading cause of in-hospital death (Lankisch et al., 2015). prompt recognition and proper management are imperative to prevent permanent end-organ damage or even death, and the causes of pancreatitis need to be carefully addressed to prevent recurrent pancreatitis.
