Acute coronary syndromes diagnosis, version 2.0: Tomorrow's approach to diagnosing acute coronary syndromes?

Abstract: Chest pain accounts for approximately 6% of Emergency Department (ED) attendances and is the most common reason for emergency hospital admission. For many years, our approach to diagnosis has required patients to stay in hospital for at least 6–12 h to undergo serial biomarker testing. As less than one fifth of the patients undergoing investigation actually has an acute coronary syndrome (ACS), there is tremendous potential to reduce unnecessary hospital admissions.Recent advances in diagnostic technology have… Show more

“…ECG and serum cardiac biomarkers are well-known predictors for diagnosing AIHD [ 54 , 55 ]. Both variables can achieve a high level of performance, and prediction models and stratification tools tend to utilize these variables [ 10 , 56 ]. However, we did not use these variables because we considered that each variable would show dominant significant predictive power in the model by itself, which would make it difficult to evaluate other clinically important variables.…”

“…ОКС является одним из проявлений ишемической болезни сердца. Термин используется для описания множества симптомов, которое предполагает, что происходит острая ишемия миокарда [16]. ОКС охватывает следующие клинические варианты: нестабильная стенокардия, инфаркт миокарда без подъема сегмента ST (ИМбпST) и инфаркт миокарда с подъемом сегмента ST (ИМспST) [25].…”

“…For this purpose, a tool for Risk Of Bias In Non-randomized Studies-of Interventions (ROBINS-I) [18] was used. ROBINS-I examines seven domains of bias owing to the following: (1) confounding; (2) selection of participants; (3) the classification of interventions; (4) deviations from intended interventions; (5) missing data; (6) measurement of outcomes; and (7) the selection of the reported result. The overall ROBINS-I judgment at domain and study level was attributed to the criteria specified in the ROBVIS tool [19].…”
