More females had been tested and more have had hypersensitivity reactions than men, however, the proportion of sensitised patients were almost identical in both genders (women: 16.5%, men:17.6%). Wood tar gave hypersensitivity reactions in 6.7% of the tested patients, Fragrance mix II (FM II) and balsam of Peru in 5.9%, Fragrance mix I (FM I) in 5.3% and colophony in 1%. We detected early test reactions typically for balsam of Peru. Most of the late onset reactions gave wood tar (24), but the FM II (20), FM I (19) and the balsam of Peru (18) showed similar results. According to the results 6.7% of all the test reactions developed only on the 7th day. Thirty-five percent of the sensitized patients showed positive reactions for more than one fragrance allergen. Among the combinations the connection of FM I and FM II was the most frequent.
