Activity Coefficients in Quaternary Systems at 298.15 K: RbCl + MeOH + EtOH + H2O and CsCl + MeOH + EtOH + H2O Systems

Abstract: Activity coefficients of RbCl or CsCl in methanol + ethanol + water were determined at 298.15 K by the cells containing ion-selective electrodes (ISEs). The molalities of RbCl and CsCl are up to approximately 1 mol•kg −1 in the mixed solvents, and the mass fractions of five aqueous MeOH/EtOH mixtures studied were (5/5, 10/5, 5/10, 10/10, and 15/15) %. The experimental data were optimized using the extended Debye−Huckel, the Pitzer, and the modified Pitzer equations. The results of the apparent standard electro… Show more

“…Further, molecular simulation results for the density of 10 compositions of the quaternary mixture were reported in previous work . The volumetric properties of the ternary subsystem water + methanol + ethanol have been studied thoroughly in the literature, ,, and Zarei et al . as well as Mori et al proposed Redlich–Kister- and NRTL-type correlations for its excess volume.…”

“…8 Hernańdez-Luis et al explored the mean activity coefficients of LiCl/NaCl/KCl + PEG 4000 + H 2 O systems in the temperature range from 288.15 to 308.15 K. 9−11 In our previous work, the phase behavior of aqueous two phase systems composed of Cs 2 SO 4 + PEG + H 2 O 12 was investigated. Moreover, the activity coefficients of Rb + /Cs + in amide/amino acid/polyhydroxy alcohol−water mixture solutions 13,14 were also concerned. In this article, the ternary systems CsCl + PEG 200/PEG 600 + H 2 O at 298.15 K were investigated by the electromotive force method.…”
