Active XML-based Web data integration

Abstract: Today, the Web is the largest source of information worldwide. There is currently a strong trend for decision-making applications such as Data Warehousing (DW) and Business Intelligence (BI) to move onto the Web, especially in the cloud. Integrating data into DW/BI applications is a critical and time-consuming task. To make better decisions in DW/BI applications, next generation data integration poses new requirements to data integration systems, over those posed by traditional data integration. In this paper,… Show more

“…With the arrival of LOD, the BI community intuitively treated LOD as external data sources that should be integrated in a DW through ETL processes [15,29,36]. The obtained multidimensional DW is used as a centralized repository of LOD [38,6]. Decisionmakers can use classical DW analysis tools to analyze LOD stored in such DWs.…”

“…Integration of heterogeneous sources of semistructured data proposed by Burati [1], Salem [7], and Yan [9] are designed to integrate data into Data Warehousing (DW) or for Business Intelligence (BI) system. Salem [7] proposed near realtime requirements and active data integration to minimize time-consuming task.…”

“…An opinion aggregation architecture is introduced in "A Multidimensional Data The next generation data integration solutions require near real-time solutions that take the Web into account as the largest source of information worldwide. In "Active XML-based Web Data Integration," Salem et al (2013) propose a generic, metadata-based, service-oriented and event-driven approach for the autonomous and timely integration of Web data.…”
