“…In most cases, the peak intensity varies linearly with the concentrations. The observed dependency of log concentration vs log intensity suggests a Freundlich-typed adsorption of creatinine on the substrates. This means that hot spots with different binding affinities exist in the currently developed SERS substrates. We believe that silver nanoflowers with a high surface area as well as the contributions from exposed underlying Cu contribute to this adsorption behavior.…”

“…As it was illustrated in the previous sections, SERS substrates are generally made of noble metals (e.g., Au, Ag, Cu) due to their high plasmonic efficiency [ 158 , 160 , 162 , 164 , 167 , 168 , 169 , 176 , 207 , 234 , 235 ]. However, the costly preparation and disposable issues of these substrates obstruct the universality of SERS measurements [ 189 ].…”

“…The hollow structure of noble metal is superior to that of solid hollow structure with the same morphology due to the plasma field coupling between its inner and outer surfaces, which generates more electromagnetic field hot spots [26]. Li et al used Cu triangle plates as SERS substrate, and modified the morphology of Cu triangle plates through H 2 O 2 /HCl etching agent to obtain more plasma resonance hot spots, leading to significantly improve the SERS sensitivity and ability [27]. At present, the SERS with the triangular substrate has made great progress in the experiment.…”
