Active Learning Method for the Determination of Coupling Factor and External Q in Microstrip Filter Design

Abstract: Abstract-In the final step of any filter design process, the desired center frequency, coupling factor and external quality factor (Q ext ) are used to determine the physical parameters of the filter. Although in the most cases the physical dimensions of a single resonator for a given center frequency are determined using exact analytical or simple approximate equations, usually such simple equations cannot be found to easily relate the required coupling factor and Q ext to the physical parameters of the filte… Show more

“…As shown in Fig. 4, the ultra-wideband antenna has a bandwidth of 36% (18)(19)(20)(21)(22)(23)(24)(25)(26), circular polarization, and a VSWR of 1.4, 1.8, and 1.6 at the radiometer typical operating frequencies, respectively. The performance of the antenna demonstrating the beamwidth of 10-14 • , gain of 19-25 dB, side lobe of less than 20 dB, and back lobe of less than 30 dB over the radiometer's frequency range.…”

“…where q is the quality factor [28,29] The induced voltage of motional EMF is so little compared to the threshold of the balise start-up voltage which is V th = 3.3 V, and can be omitted. Therefore, the total induced voltage of the balise antenna coil satisfies…”

“…In spite of many advantages, these antennas suffer from some disadvantages which include their low efficiency, low power, high Q, poor polarization purity, spurious feed radiation and very narrow bandwidth [11][12][13][14][15][16][17]. There have been some efforts spent using various techniques to improve the performance of such antennas for their widespread applications.…”
