“…An activated Fuller's earth was introduced as an efficient heterogeneous catalyst by Rekunge et al via a simple method for the synthesis of 5-aryl 1-H-tetrazoles was developed from various sodium azides and alkenyl nitriles with 77-91 % of yield at 120 °C in DMSO. [70] A convenient method for synthesis of high-yielding of 2-(1H-tetrazole-5-yl)acrylonitrile derivatives (5-substituted 1H-tetrazoles) by three-component domino Knoevenagel condensation / 1,3 dipolar cycloaddition reaction of malononitrile, sodium azide, and aldehydes in the presence of ZrP 2 O 7 nanoparticles as a catalyst with the use of ultrasound as an energy source at 70 °C for 2-10 min gave 88-92 % of disubstituted tetrazoles (Scheme 3). It was found that the product yield was higher in the case of ultrasound than conventional heating, as shown in (Table 1).…”

“…Fuller's earth has m any advantages over other potential adsorbents being commercially available with very low cost, non-toxic, and eco-friendly [26]. It is essential to understand the chemical and crystalline structure of the used adsorbent.…”

“…Moreover, better selectivity can be achieved, thus, eliminating the formation of undesired products. 57 5-(Alkylthio)-and 5-(arylthio)-1H-tetrazoles were synthesized in up to 94% yields by Kolo and Sajadi 58 from thiocyanates using Fe 3 O 4 NPs, which are magnetically recoverable and reusable (Scheme 9). Mechanistically, the catalyst activated the nitrile group on its surface by forming a complex with the nitrile group of the thiocyanate, thus imparting electrophilic character.…”
