“…Infection is frequently associated with a long‐standing amoebic colitis, and may reach the cervix through a rectovaginal fistula, by autoinoculation in persons with poor personal hygiene, or rarely as a sexually transmitted illness 1,2 . The disease has been associated with use of intra‐uterine contraceptive devices and is nearly always symptomatic, even mimicking carcinoma in exceptional cases 5,6 . Asymptomatic infection seen in the present case is curious and was, in all likelihood, due to the patient's coexistent psychiatric disorder.…”
