Across the energy scale: from eV to GeV

Abstract: This article is an extended version of Hevesy Medal Award Lecture-2015, delivered at the Tenth International Conference on Methods and Applications of Radioanalytical Chemistry (MARC X) held at Hawai'i during 12-17 April 2015. The award was given on our works on heavy ion activation, tracer packet technique, converter targets and green chemistry. This article briefly addresses on all the four topics described above.

“…Over a decade, our continuous endeavour was to use green chemistry mandates in radiochemical experiments 20 . Earlier, in 'Radio-green Chemistry' experiments we have used many environmental friendly benign bio reagents like Poly (N-vinylpyrrolidone) [21][22] , polyethylene glycol [23][24] and many plant biomaterials [25][26][27] .…”

“…For last two decades our laboratory made pioneering contribution on developing the neutrondeficient isotope production route by heavy ion activation. A concise literature can be found in reference [7]. For example, in the context of gold radionuclide production, our laboratory reported production of 192,193 Au as daughter product of 192,193 Hg which was produced by irradiating tantalum target with 95 MeV 16 O beam.…”
