Abstract:To date, most acoustic emission (AE) testing has been undertaken without a proper means of calibration for AE sensors in situ. The detected AE signals are significantly affected by the positioning of the sensor on a structure, machine or process, and by the variability of the sensor-structure interface. The result is AE measurements with poor repeatability and no traceability. All that is being actually measured is the voltage (or the voltage in dB with reference to 1 mV) of the AE sensor system output, wherea… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
