Acoustic Characteristic Analysis of Prestressed Cylindrical Shells in Local Areas

Abstract: The influence of prestress on dynamic responses and acoustic radiation for thin cylindrical shells is analyzed in this study. The strain-displacement equation of cylindrical shells with prestress in local areas is established based on the Flügge theory. The structural-acoustic radiation formulation for prestressed cylindrical shells in local areas is instituted by using the variational principle. A numerical analysis is then carried out. The numerical results are validated by comparing the influence of prestre… Show more

“…Welding residual stress is a common non-uniform distribution pre-stress in engineering design and construction. The traditional solution is no longer suitable to solve non-uniform pre-stress distribution problems [16][17][18]. Moreover, few works have stated the solution for the vibration problem of a circular plate with welding residual stress distribution despite its frequent existence in structure.…”

“…The traditional methods are no longer suitable to solve the free vibration problems with welding residual stress distribution. 2123 To the best of the author’s knowledge, few works have investigated the vibration characteristic problem of circular plate with welding residual stress distribution despite its wide existence in engineering design and manufacturing. Thus, it is necessary to analyze the vibration characteristic of the circular plate with non-uniform pre-stress distributions, and the Rayleigh–Ritz method is an effectiveness method to deal with this problem.…”
