“…This is consistent with previous evidence describing caregivers as indirect victims of CSA (Cyr et al, 2016; Teubal, 2009). It is worth mentioning that 51.7% of caregivers register scores indicative of adverse experiences in at least one of the five dimensions evaluated by the CTQ and 32.8% report having lived through CSA, results that could be related to the transgenerational aspect of this type of experience (Pizarro & Capella, 2021). Similarly, 44.8% have PTSD symptoms, showing that these caregivers require therapeutic intervention for the emotional impact of their children’s CSA, especially considering that in most cases the aggressor was a family member.…”

“…Emotional changes are also observed, such as decreased guilt and increased emotional stability (Dussert et al, 2017). In caregivers who were sexually assaulted as children, positive changes in the caregiver's experience of childhood victimization are also observed through psychosocial interventions in CSA programs (Pizarro & Capella, 2021). Studies in CSA psychotherapy suggest providing comprehensive support to caregivers, intervening in the impact of the assault.…”
