Achieving Sustainable Ultra-Dense Heterogeneous Networks for 5G

Abstract: Due to the exponentially increased demands of mobile data traffic, e.g., a 1000-fold increase in traffic demand from 4G to 5G, network densification is considered as a key mechanism in the evolution of cellular networks, and ultra-dense heterogeneous network (UDHN) is a promising technique to meet the requirements of explosive data traffic in 5G networks. In the UDHN, base station is brought closer and closer to users through densely deploying small cells, which would result in extremely high spectral efficien… Show more

“…The flight power consumption for the rotary-wing UAV is a function of its flight velocity. In particular, the flight power 5 We assume that all the antennas have roughly the same distance between the jammer UAV and user k. In fact, this assumption generally holds as antenna separation at the jammer is generally much shorter compared to the distance between the jammer UAV and ground users. consumption models of the information UAV and the jammer UAV are given by [31]:…”

“…When multicell or dense-network scenario is considered [46], the uplink PD-NOMA would increase the intercell interference (ICI) because multiple users are allowed to transmit on the shared carriers. Therefore, user association and ICI-aware power allocation should also be studied to control the transmission power and avoid causing severe ICI to the neighboring cells [47,47].…”

“…The rapid growing demand on wireless communication services, e.g. ultra-high data rates and massive connectivity [2], has fueled the development of wireless networks and the mass productions of wireless devices. Despite the fruitful research in the literature for providing ubiquitous services, the performance of wireless systems is limited by the users with poor channel conditions [3], [4].…”
