The convergence of vehicular communications, 5th generation mobile network (5G) technology, and edge computing marks a paradigm shift in intelligent transportation. Vehicular communication systems, including Vehicle-to-Vehicle and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure, are integral to Intelligent Transportation Systems. The advent of 5G enhances connectivity, while edge computing brings computational processes closer to data sources. This synergy holds the potential to revolutionize transportation efficiency and safety. This research investigates vehicular communication and edge computing dynamics within a 5G network, considering varying distances between On Board Units and Roadside Units. Energy consumption patterns and CPU load at the RSU are analyzed through meticulous real-world experiments and simulations. Our results show stable energy consumption at shorter distances, with fluctuations increasing at greater ranges. CPU load correlates with communication distance, highlighting the need for adaptive algorithms. While experiments exhibit higher variability, our simulations validate these findings, emphasizing the importance of considering transmission range in vehicular communication network design.

This paper explores the potential for deployment of 5G communication in the South Pacific, with a particular focus on leveraging the low-band spectrum for socio-economic development. The purpose of this study is to assess the feasibility of deploying 5G infrastructure in the South Pacific region, analyze the socio-economic benefits it may bring, and propose strategies to maximize these benefits. The research methodology includes a comprehensive review of existing literature on 5G deployment strategies, the socio-economic impacts of telecommunications infrastructure, and case studies of similar initiatives in other regions. The findings show that the deployment of 5G technology using low-band spectrum has the potential to significantly improve connectivity, healthcare, education, and economic opportunities in the South Pacific. Additionally, the paper proposes innovative approaches to address challenges such as infrastructure development in remote areas and affordability for marginalized communities. This study contributes to existing literature by providing tailored recommendations for leveraging 5G technology to address socio-economic inequalities in the South Pacific, thereby contributing to the development of telecommunications infrastructure in the region. Contributions of the 5G Network with Respect to Poverty (SDG1), Systematic Literature Review

Poverty is one of the biggest problems in the world caused by the lack of resources necessary to meet the basic needs of human survival. Ending global poverty is one of the main tasks of large organizations around the world, as well as the United Nations has established 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the first goal being the “eradication of poverty”. On the other hand, 5G technology has been considered one of the most important revolutions in the digital era and has been highlighted for its ability to improve people’s quality of life. As this technology expands around the world, it is important to understand how it could contribute to poverty reduction, a major global challenge. To carry out this literature review work, various sources of information were used, with a total of 329 articles from which 49 relevant articles were obtained. It was identified that the sectors with the greatest contribution to poverty reduction are Government, Society, and Agriculture. It was also found that the most relevant 5G technology that influences poverty reduction on a larger scale is the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence. Being applied mainly in precision agriculture and Smart Cities. This review provides a reference point for the analysis of the use of 5G technologies in different sectors, with the aim of promoting equality and economic inclusion in rural areas and future research on the various factors that affect poverty reduction.
