A similar ACGME change requiring 6 months on service during the intern year was instated for orthopedic surgery residencies in 2013, which also included participation and evaluation of a mandatory surgical skills curriculum comprised of 18 defined modules . These types of interventions and evaluations would be feasible in otolaryngology given the additional 3 months on service, though would require deliberation regarding the appropriate modules to include for our specialty.…”
