“…Articular cartilage defect is usually accompanied by subchondral bone degeneration, which is an important and intractable clinical problem [ [1] , [2] , [3] , [4] , [5] , [6] , [7] ]. At present, tissue engineering is emerging as a promising alternative approach: seeding cells on biomaterials to reconstruct desired substitutes for tissue repair [ [8] , [9] , [10] , [11] , [12] ].…”

“…[ 13,14,19 ] Therefore, in this study, we fabricated novel WJ‐based hydrogels for cartilage regeneration. Compared with complex techniques, such as those used for making decellularized cartilage ECM of cartilage sheets, [ 20 ] cartilage powder, [ 18b,21 ] and laser micropores, [ 22 ] a simple and mild decellularization process effectively removed the cellular components of WJ while retaining the content of collagen, HA and GAGs and the structure of WJ in this study. The resulting DWJMA hydrogels demonstrated rapid gelation under UV light and had tunable swelling capability, degradability, and mechanical properties, indicating that they can be used for regenerating various tissues.…”

“…This might be due to the presence of different growth factors and extracellular matrix in CdECM, as indicated by previous reports. 53 Following the incubation, the viability of the BMSCs in different hydrogels was generally comparable. However, a notable difference was observed on day 7, with a higher cell density observed in CdECM in comparison to HAMA and the hybrid hydrogel.…”
