Abstract

Despite the potential benefit of using e-health systems to share health information, the relationship between technology and its suppliers with potential users tends to be complex. Thus, it is important to interpret the factors that explain the acceptance of new technologies by potential users. This work aims to synthesize the results of acceptance of e-health technologies. For this purpose, relations and constructs proposed in the UTAUT model of technology acceptance were used. In addition, the effects of moderating variables (gender, age group, presence of illness, users, technological application and year of publication) were tested in the relationships proposed at UTAUT through the procedure called meta-regression. There is significance in the effect of the constructs "Performance Expectancy", "Expectation of Effort" and "Social Influence" in the "Behavioral Intention" construct. It is also possible to observe the significance of the effect of the Behavioral Intention and “Facilitating Conditions” constructs in the “Use Behavior” construct. Among the moderating variables, only the variable “age group” did not result in significant moderation for any relationship. The present study presents estimates of the factors that determine the acceptance of new health technologies and suggests a general orientation for the development of new e-health technologies considering their acceptance by users.
